(1) College examinations are very important for the students. On no account the college examinations should be avoided. A student must sit forthe following examination.
(a) There shall be two examinations, the fIrst Terminal and the Annual for the fIrst year class or Higher Secondary Course. The First Terminal Examination will be held in Nov or December and the Annual examination will be held in April & May.
(b) The test examination in Nov- December for the second year Higher Secondary Classes.
(2) Every student is required to appear at all these examinations, in order to earn his progress certifIcate. However annual ana test examinations are compulsory and unless a student appears at the annual or text examination as the case may be he Ishe may be penalised in any manner to be determined by the state council. .
(3) Absence from any examination, whole or part, will make a student liable for payment of a fIne as may be decided by the staff council unless he gets exemption from appearance oflhe examination.
(4) Application for exemption from appearing at the examination will not ordinarily be entertained. In exceptional cases
application for exemption made by parents or guardians duly supported by amedical certificate incase of illness and endorsed by the concemedproctors may be considered by the principal.
(5) A student failing to secure qualifying marks in the college examination shall not ordiparily be selected for promotion to the next higher class.
        (6) Adopftion of unfair means at college examinations is a Serious offence and penalty shall be decided by state council.
(7) A student may be fined / or expelled for infringing rules of examination discipline to be decided b)r state council.

(B) COUNCIL EXAMINATION
The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) conducts the  examination called the Annual Examination in +2 Arts, Science and Commerce which is held in the month of March and the resultS are published in June-July.
In addition to Annual examination, council also conducts an Instant Examination (from 1999) for those students who have failed in one or more subjects in the Annual examination but have secured 35%or the total marks in the aggregate. The lnstant examination is held in August.-September.

2. Qualification for admission to the annual examination.

Any registered student of the council may be admitted to the annual examination in +2 Arts, science and commerce courses, if he /she has completed on one of more affiliated institutions, recognised for the purpose of such examination a regular course of study, on the subjects in which the candidat wishes to be examined, for not less than two Academic year after passing the High School Certificate Examinatiofl of the Board of Secondary Education of Orissa.
A student who take up subject in which a practical course is prescribed shall have to produce a certificate from the Head of the institution to the effect tbat he has completed the prescribed practical course in that subject.

3. Qualification for admission to the instant examination­The following categories of students shall be pennitted to appear at the instant examination.
(a) All failed candidates
(b) Candidates who were sen.t up to appear for the, Annual examination but were unable to appear.
       (c) Candidates who failed at the test examination provides they take another test examination and pass it.
       (d) All private candidates who were regi tered for the Annum
examination but could not appear.
(e) Candidates who were not sent up for Annual examination due to deficiency in attendance, provided that they put in attendance for at least a tenn to make up the deficiency and have passed the Test examinations.       .
4. A candidate who has failed at the Higher Secondary Examination or having been registered for the examination fails to present himself at the examination may be admitted to such examination on payment of the prescribed fee without further attending at lecturers. And when he offers any subject or subjects for which pradtical examination is prescribed he / she shall produce a certificate from the Head of the institution or having taken further course or practical work in an institution in each subject for at least one month before the commencement of the examination at which he is to appear.             .
5. No candidate shall be permitted to appear the instant examination in any su iect which he had not offered at the preceding Annual examinations.  
   .
6. Pass Mark:
(a) The pass mark in written and practical shall be 30% and 40% of the maximum respectively in, that subject or group of subjects. The pass mark in the aggregate shall be 35%.
(b) If a candidate has passed in the compulsory and optional subjects and also in the aggregate the marks if any which he obtains
in excess of the minimum pass mark in the extra optional subject shall be added to his aggregate and the new aggregate so obtained shall determine his division and his place in the pass list.

7. Exemption from appearing a subject or more subjects:

If a candidate fails in one or more subjects in the Higher Secondary Examination but secures pass mark in the aggregate, he
shall be exempted on application; from appearing again in that subject
or group of subjects in which he / she has passed and the order of exemption shall remain valid for the next two consecutive examinations conducted by the council following the examination on which he/she originally failed provided.
(i) That the student has to clear all the failed.subjects at a time and
(ii) that he / she shall not be placed in any division.

C) AUTONOMOUS EXAMINATION RULES AND GUIDELINES.
There will be Semestar system of Examination for Degree students as per the guidelines UGC and Utkal University in letter No. CDC20/45873/ 06 Dated 31.07.2006.

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT EXAMINATION
                                                                               
1. Two internal assessment examinations will be conducted for each paper.
2. Four examinations will be held in an' academic session as per the following schedule:                                                               
a. 1 st = First week of September
b. 2nd = Second week of November
c. 3rd = Second week of February
d. 4th = First week of April
3. Duration of examination will be of one hour.
4. Absence in an examination will mean zero marks secured.
5. There will be no provision for back appearance. But students lttending state/ national level NCC, Sports, academic and cultural events will be given another chance to appear at special examination.
6. For each paper, marks obtained in the best of two examinations will be taken and added to the marks secured in the Semestar examination for final results.

SEMESTER EXAMINATION
1. Semester examinations will be held as per the following schedule:
a. 1st = Third week of December
b. 2nd = First week of May
        2. The duration of examinations Will be as follows.  .
a. Theory paper with maximum marks of 80/60 = 3 hours b. Theory paper with maximum marks of 40 = 2 hours
c. Practicalpaper with maximum marks of 20 = 3 h0urs 3. A candidate will have to enroll for each semester examination.
4. A candidate enrolled for examination, iffails to appearfully/ partially at a semester examination, will appear back at the corresponding examination in the next session.
S. A candidate securing less than 45 % In an Honours paper and less than 30% ilia PasslElectiveiCompulsory paper will be eligible to appear at back examination.
6. A candidate, if does not enroll for/appear at both the semester examinations of a session, will have to be readmitted into the same class.
7. Two sets of questions for each theory paper for   each semester will be invited from external question setters.
8. Theory answer papers will be evaluated exclusively by external examiners but Practical answer papers will be evaluated by both  external and internal examiners.
9. Coding and tabulation will be done internally.
10. The di vision and distinction will awarded on the basis of the following:
a. First Class Honours With Distinction: Minimum 60% in Hons (Aggregate) & mii!imum 30% in each subject and 50% in aggregate in subjects other than Hons.

b. First Class Honours: Minimum 60% in Hons (Aggregate) & minimum 30% in each subject & 33% in aggregate  in subjects other than Hons.
c. Second Class Honourswith Distinction: Minimum 45% but less than 60% in Hons (Aggregate) & minimum 30% in each subject and 50% in aggregate in subjects other than Hons. .
d. Second Class Honours: 45% in Hons (Aggregate) & minimum 30% in each subject & 33% in aggregate in subjects other than Hons.
e. Back  appearance in any of the subjects other than Honours will disqualify for award of Distinction.

MALPRACTICE COMMITTEE
1. The malpractice committee comprising five faculty members including one Deputy Controller of Examinations will look into the. reported cases of malpractice.
        2. The decision of the committee is final and binding.
